Autism (Developing Skills) – Part 1

Overview

This is a one day course for staff to provide day to day support and care to people on the autistic spectrum and to provide an opportunity to build on your existing knowledge of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and to use this knowledge to identify practical strategies that can be used when supporting individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:-

• Identify what the Autistic Spectrum encompasses, including lifelong related neurological conditions
• Describe the possible impact Autism may have on an individual’s communication, socialisation and behaviour.
• Demonstrate the ability to plan effective, realistic strategies tailored to each individual’s needs.
• Explore local support systems, services and information resources.
