Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will have been given the opportunity to:

  • Understand the importance of communication and its uses
  • Become familiar with some of the tools and resources available to aid communication, including the use of Alternative and Augmented Communication Systems.
  • Explore how to communicate with children and young people who don’t use a specific method of communication
  • Understand the differences between fact, interpretation and opinion and when these are appropriate
  • Explore the moral and ethical issues relating to communication and engagement with disabled children and young people.
