To give participants an opportunity to consider some of the dilemmas involved in working with families where emotional abuse is an issue. By the end of the course, participants will have been given the opportunity to:-
- Recognise situations where emotional abuse impacts on a child’s development
- Consider research and enquiry findings that assist in working with emotional abuse
- Understand the assessment framework in order to conduct assessments that are informed by family history, dynamics and current context in order to reach an understanding of the needs of the child
- Build an understanding of attachment and resilience to inform their analysis
- Develop their capacity to work creatively with children and families to build on strengths whilst ensuring children are protected from harm
